John Pinnell

Born in Hollywood and raised in the west San Fernando valley, John Pinnell discovered the benefits of Ventura County early on. Spending time with his grandparents in Camarillo he fell in love with the “beach community” lifestyle. Fishing, crabbing, camping, and dirt bike riding uncovered unusually strong mechanical abilities at an early age, and by his teens he was a professional motorcycle mechanic. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy at the age of 22, John served overseas as an avionics technician.

Later, while stationed at Naval Air Station Pt. Mugu John earned his undergraduate degree from the University of La Verne. After the Navy, and a few years working in computer-controlled robotics, John returned to the University of La Verne and began the study of law. Graduating in the top ten of his class, he passed the state Bar exam first time out and opened a law firm dedicated to criminal defense (Fun Fact: John clerked for Mr. Lehr while a law student). After 12 years in private practice, John joined the Ventura County District Attorney’s office as a prosecutor. Five years of learning the inner workings of the D.A.’s office was enough, and he returned to criminal defense.

Now, as a member of the Strongest Defense team, he brings his unique skills set, and a passion for justice, to Ventura County. When not fighting for our clients, John enjoys fishing, tennis, gardening, international cooking, and the restoration and repair of motor vehicles.
